We are looking for the integation of Vendor Master from Ariba SIPM to SAP ECC. Vendor can self register in Ariba SIPM and on approval the information will be passed to SAP ECC and create Vendor Master data.
Any idea on this integration or if anyone as built custom?

If I want to create a partial catalog, how can do the type definitions?
In the <Ariba catalog format> product document, I find following descriptions:
"An Ariba Procurement Solution uses cXML files called type definition files to define parametric search attributes and supplemental catalog attributes. Buying organizations can use type definition files to extend the catalog format and provide additional custom functionality."
What's this mean? How can I use the type definition documents?

I'm sure this is basic and I have searched to try and find an answer with no luck. I am working in a test environment to learn the system and not muck about with production data. I have followed the instructions and created a KPI Library folder and now want to create sections to group my KPIs. The pdf I have been working with says the following:
Procedure
1. In a scorecard or KPI Library choose, This KPI will contain supporting data (KPI, questions, and/or requirements).
2. Enter the KPI section name and description.
3. Specify whether the KPI section will be visible to the supplier.
4. Click Done.
So I have created the Library and when I open it I do not have the choice stated in #1. The sections sound like folders but I don't know if I add additional folders in the Library to group my KPIs if I will be able to pull them in to scorecards. Would really appreciate it if someone could offer clarification.

We have a need to segregate receiving of Technology products from ordering. Our understanding is that their is not an OOB group that would segregate these permissions. Have any Ariba customers done this If you, can you share your solution?
I am planning for ARIBA certification and started preparing for that.. I am following SAP learning HUB with course code AR510, AR520, AR530 and AR540.. But still not sure these four courses will be enough for certification or i need to look into any other studay material.. Bit confused about syllabus for Ariba p2p certification so please clarrify someone..
I would be interested to know how are other Ariba Sourcing users address the issue of training suppliers invited to respond to an RFP who are first time Ariba users. What best practices are out there. The reason for raising this issue is because there are still a large number of companies that have not used Ariba. This is particularly true in regions like Asia, where langauge barriers can add another level of difficulty. We have very limited resources in house. project owners have multiple responsibilites and to achieve the ROI on our Ariba solution and the efficiency leveles we promised we can afford task the project owners with holding supplier training sessions. We notice that a considerable number of suppliers decline to participate in our RFP due to lack of familiarity with the tool or, if they participate, they are not comfortable directing all communication and the entire proposal submission through the tool. This impacts the efficiency rates that we were expecting to achieve from use of Ariba as opposed to the traditional word and excel spreadsheet method.
I know that there are some companies out there that are still using the old method (from the time when eRFXs were pionered), that is holding training sessions for suppliers invited to RFp or setting up training events. As I said, this require a significant amount of resources, in my opinion.
Also, I found that some suppliers do not use or do not find the training videos very useful. Besides, to get to the guides and help menus you need to log in first and sometimes they can't even pass that stage and won't usually look for Help and guides once they are in as they are overwhelmed by RFP content, pre-requisites etc.
One solution that I considered is to be able to attach some supplier user guides that I developed myself with screenshots and a login user guide to the invitation email. That way the supplier would get not only the link to the event/password reset but also a quick guide that at least will help him go through the first steps. The problem is that the email templates available in Ariba do not seem to accomodate that. This is also true with email messaging during an RFP where messages composed from Ariba do not go out with attachments. As a result, we still get a lot of calls from suppliers after we publish the event (in spite of "heads-up" emails we sent suppliers before publishing the RFP) and we end up doing a lot of micro-managing around RFP that eliminates any efficiencies we might have achieved.
I am interested in any other ideas, workarounds, best practices.

Have any of you found documentation, blogs, white papers, presentations or studies where Ariba Buyer (9r1 ideally) and SAP SRM 7 are being compared?
I have seen some interesting blogs on spendmatters.com, a Gartner study, some SAP links (distinct SAP flavor! :-)), but nothing on Connect or Exchange. Of course a big point for Ariba is the ASN; what are the others?
Seems the trend is to compare both options, and we are at the gathering input stage... :-)

We use Ariba's upstream applications (Sourcing, Contracts, Suppliers) which comes with some "Analytics" - ability to use prepackaged reports or create an analytical report. I am new to Ariba and would love some help on how to create a particular report.
I am trying to create a pivot table view of all the Suppliers (in rows) and count of Contracts Workspace (Procurement), Count of Sourcing Project, and Count of Supplier Performance Management Project (in each corresponding column). For example:
Contracts Sourcing SPM
Supplier 1 4 3 1
Supplier 2 2 3 -
Supplier 3 1 - 4
Contracts, Sourcing and SPM require a "Supplier" when you create it, but I am unable to select the Main, Second and Third Fact to create a view like this. And Main Fact "Project" (which has the required Project Types of Contracts, SPM, Sourcing, etc) does not have the Supplier field!! Supplier 360 does not provide any reporting like this - which i think would be ideal!
If you have created such a report or know how to do so, I would sincerely appreciate some help/ direction/ advice.

I am not able to enable DFS feature in IE11 browser even after following below DFS troubleshooting steps and Ariba system struck in below screen after installation of ActiveX control.
Need your suggestions for the same.
DFS Troubleshooting steps
I. Configure Internet Browser
1. Open Internet Explorer > click on Tools (at the top of the screen) > Select "Internet Options".
2. Click on the General Tab> click on “Delete” or "Delete Cookies" (based on your browser version) > and then click ‘OK’ to delete.
3. On the General Tab> click on “Delete” or "Delete Files" (based on your browser version) > and then click ‘OK’ to delete.
4. On the General Tab> click on "Settings" > click on "View Objects".
5. Right -click on "Ariba Client Automation ActiveX Control" > click “Remove” > click OK
6. Click on the Security Tab> click on "Custom Level" > Set as follows:

2. Under "HTTP 1.1 settings" section, make sure only the option "use http 1.1" is checked.
3. Under the "Security" section, make sure that "do not save encrypted pages to disk" is unchecked.
II. Restart the computer/machine. Log back into the On-Demand Sourcing site and check if you continue to see the error message related to DFS.

I have been tasked with trying to implement the use of more reverse auctions within our organization. We have held many forward auctions but we seem to meet a lot of resistance around reverse auctions. I'm reaching out the Ariba community for some feedback on the usage of auctions. We are planning to go for Ariba implementation but want to know on current version of SIPM, Contract and P2P module in Ariba. Also want to know where I can get information on Ariba to ECC interfaces. To integrate with ECC we have to use PI as middleware or direct integration ?
First, I am an Ariba newbie. 
We are looking to integrate our existing web application, that allows buyers to purchase services, with Ariba. Due to the custom nature of our services, we have determined that using a PunchOut catalog makes the most sense. I am reviewing the cXML Solutions Guide and I've read a few other documents in the Ariba Production Documentation site. I believe I have a test punchout catalog setup in our test account. One of my initial questions is how can I work with this test catalog pointing it to a development version of our web site on my local machine? It appears that SSL is required even in the test account. Can I use a self-signed certificate?
The existing web application that we will be integrating with is ASP.NET application written in C# running on IIS.
If this is not possible, how can I simulate cXML transactions being posted from Ariba to our application when we are developing our solution?

Hi - we are embarking on an Ariba P2P implementation for a cliet in France. I have to conduct configuration workshops with the client. I am looking for documents, templates, best practice that i can use to conduct these workshops. i am looking for a kit that i can use if possible. Typically what is the approach. The integration will be with SAP ECC6, 4.6, 4.7, and other generic ERP. This is a multi country implementation. I am specifically looking for the following
