Hello,

 

A customer runs a sourcing project in Ariba.

The sourcing project has an RFP which ask suppliers to select the Regions they can support/deliver a particular service.

 

The result of the sourcing project is 1 Master Agreement and multiple sub-agreements ( 10 - 200 subagreements with different suppliers base on the Regions they've selected).

 

Currently, they are using OnPremise solutions and the above scenario has been customised for them.

They are keen on moving their platform to OnDemand.

 

Is the above scenario configurable in OnDemand?

Can someone provide me with some possible workarounds for this?

 

Your inputs will be much appreciated.

Ariba P2P Implemenation - Need functional configuration document

Hi - we are embarking on an Ariba P2P implementation for a cliet in France. I have to conduct configuration workshops with the client. I am looking for documents, templates, best practice that i can use to conduct these workshops. i am looking for a kit that i can use if possible. Typically what is the approach. The integration will be with SAP ECC6, 4.6, 4.7, and other generic ERP. This is a multi country implementation. I am specifically looking for the following

 

  1. Detailed project plan template
  2. Functional configutration template
  3. Configurtion Templates/ppts/best practice documents that i can use for workshops, for category design, approval process, user restrictions etc
  4. all the applicable CSV templates for data upload
  5. what are the typical functional design components where we need to conduct workshops before finalising the design and collect data in csv template

 

it will very helpful if somebody can guide me. This is my first major imolementation and need to learn a lot.

Company code/Purchasing Unit are not editable while creating PR

Hi,

 

Previously, while creating a PR, system pops-up to fill up company code and Purchasing unit fills up automatically once company code is chosen.Now, everything else is same only these two fields are not editable while creating new PR. Even if I copy old PR to create a new one, it does not allow to change the value.

 

Can anyone help me this.

Hide Soucing Library link from the dash board

Hello,

 

Would like to hide Soucing Library link from the dash board for certain users. I think SourcingAuthorized permission drives this functionality, however if this permission is assigned to Sourcing Authorized role, and inturn this role is assigned to a few other roles.

 

I am wondering if anybody else has implemented this.

Best RFP type for business card RFP

I'm looking to run a business card RFP.  The cost components are:  cost per card per order size (0-250, 251 - 500, 501+), shipping location, uplift for expedited shipping.

 

What would you recommend as the RFP type (RFP, RFP with price breakdown or RFP with total cost).

On-Demand session terminated due to changed IP address

My company uses Webroot, a cloud-based internet proxy and content filter.  Because they are cloud-based, when they perform load balancing our traffic may be routed through other servers in their farm.  This causes my Ariba-perceived IP address to alter dramatically.  Ariba looks upon this as a potential session hijack attempt and promptly terminates the session with an ominous warning.

 

This happens without warning and in purely random fashion.  Ariba's stock answer is "talk with your IT department to adjust your settings."  Well, my IT department is the one who selected the proxy/filter a year or more before we implemented Ariba.  We are using SAP R/3 as our ERP and SAP SRM as our procurement app talking to Ariba.

 

Surely we can't be the only medium/large enterprise using a cloud-based proxy.  Someone else must be doing it this way and is either suffering this same problem we are OR they've figured out a solution.  I would love to hear from anyone who has/had this problem - especially if you have SOLVED it.

Ariba vs SAP SRM 7

Hi there,

 

Have any of you found documentation, blogs, white papers, presentations or studies where Ariba Buyer (9r1 ideally) and SAP SRM 7 are being compared?

 

I have seen some interesting blogs on spendmatters.com, a Gartner study, some SAP links (distinct SAP flavor! :-)), but nothing on Connect or Exchange. Of course a big point for Ariba is the ASN; what are the others?

 

Seems the trend is to compare both options, and we are at the gathering input stage... :-)

Catalog comparison

Hi All,

 

We are implementing Ariba P2O solution for a pharma client there is a specific requirement

 

During PR creation, if the user selects a higher priced catalog instead of selecting the least priced catalog for the same material (e.g. CAS # being the unique identifier in this case), there should be a way to get this tracked in the form or notification or additional approval etc.

 

Say there are two catalogs from two different suppliers for the same material (same CAS#)

 

Catalog A - $100

Catalog B - $80

Catalog C - $110

 

During PR creating if user selects any catalog A or B, there should be some mechanism to trace that user has selected non-least priced catalog.

 

Is this currently possible? Has anybody come across this kind or requirement and if so, how is it handled?

Hello All,

 

I have worked on Ariba Procurement Suite Solution (P2O) as a support consultant and was also involved in rolling out the solution to 2 new entities as well. I also worked as an Ariba adminstrator and was involved in data management and resolving user misunderstanding issues in the project.

 

Now i would like to explore further about Ariba and would like to know more about the configurations which are normally done as a part of the ariba implementation. I am basically a SRM / MM / Fiori Consultant but have worked for around 2 years in Ariba space.

 

Any pointers in this area would be great for me to get a full hand understanding about Ariba. I have explored a couple of guides in this space namely

2. Catalog Management Guide

3. Quick Start Guide

 

So would like to know whether any pointers in this regard of having some documentation about Ariba would be really helpful.

Here is a simple question, what are the simple functions of PunchOut?
Marion:
PunchOut is conceptually simple. Users initiate PunchOut shopping sessions to view your e-commerce site on your Web servers. They select items, configure them if necessary, and check out, which brings the contents of the shopping cart back to the requisition. Later, requisition approvers can display the requisition and re-punch out to inspect or edit the shopping cart on your site and bring any changes back again to the requisition.

Hi Brett, are you referring to a preview of the punchout experience that a buyer will have on your site? If so, yes, that's possible, we have a punchout tester on the Ariba Network that allows that.

Assuming we start with our questions. Today, the majority of suppliers support a single customer experience during punchout. Where does Ariba view the personalization (or consumer) experience in punchout going. Should suppliers be looking into the personalization of the punchout to John Doe instead of a company experience such as Acme Brick?
Jon Glickman:
All personalization is available through elements in the first PunchOut message, the PunchOutSetupRequest. You'll be able to see the ID of the buying company, and possibly other info. This message is customizable by the buyer. Get an example PunchOutSetupRequest message from your customer to see what is available, and you can use any of the info in it to provide customization.

It will work with any punchout site that is cXML integrated - You can use this via your test AN account and change the credentials to different customers to simulate the punchout experience.

Terri, after the order is placed in the PunchOut, the interface punches back into Ariba Buyer or P2P and the order is routed through the Ariba Network and ultimately to suppliers via email, fax, cXML or EDI.

You can take an existing B2C site that already offers extensive marketing to ensure that customers get what they need. PunchOut sits on top of that site.

How can I convince my customers to use my PunchOut catalog?

Many sellers we have worked with talk to their customers about the flexibility and customization that is possible with PunchOut. With PunchOut you can really made the site look the way they wanted to and it can appear as though you have a list of products but you really can only search for one and only come back with one—giving buyers a lot of control over what their company can purchase. Mostly, it comes down to helping build buyer’s confidence in the solution that they will see and use and having the flexibility to adapt to each customer’s needs.

Our organization is in the process of rebuilding our promotional items online catalog - do you have any suggestions for enhancements? Besides giving customers a photo of the item, are there any other ideas?
Jon Glickman:
Photos are the best way to promote items. Other than that, any personalization you can add to your site will help sales. Use data in the PunchOutSetupRequest (the first message in a PunchOut transaction) to personalize the session. Use that info for personalization, marketing, or customer-specific promotions.

The item info that is validated from the punchout site is the UNSPSC code, Unit of Measure. THese need to ahdere to the customer's standard.

The only way you can compare to a standard hosted catalog would be to implement L2 Punchout. This is an index file similar to a CIF hosted catalog whereby you can search for the items in Ariba but when you select the item in Ariba, you are punched out to the item on the punchout site.

Yes, you need to ensure you are using https connection otherwise there will contant warning messages displayed to users. You also need to be sure to implement a compact policy in the header of your punchout site.

We're live with PunchOut, and will soon be upgrading our eCommerce software. How do we test our new PunchOut installation - with our Ariba customer - while our older ecommerce site is still in production?

Each customer has a test environment that you should be able to set up integration of your new punchout site for testing purposes - this would be via your test AN account.

I understand how I can use the POSR to identify a specific user, My question is more of whether you view this as a direction suppliers should be strive toward. I can easily pull the punchout users, email address and auto create a new user (or match to existing); but is this the best approach or should I be driving toward a login while in my punchout experience

@Robert, yes this is a good way for suppliers to go. Ideally, you'd hook up your customer database to your PunchOut site so that everything is in synch and you're displaying current information. Be careful about accruing info about individual users, though. Make sure they know you're doing it.

Kapil...You can give them examples such as B&H Photo, a provider of creative technology products, is a great seller example. When a large buyer asked them to join the Ariba Network, they started out tactical—as a one off. After further customers discussions, management saw this as an opportunity to grow the account by replacing their 500-item, annually updated CIF catalog (which had rapidly obsolete, too-high prices) with a 40,000-item CIF catalog to be updated monthly. The customer’s initial reluctance to update catalogs at this higher frequency disappeared once they realized it would save them hundreds of thousands of dollars due to more timely pricing. B&H now provides customers with a 200,000+-item PunchOut catalog updated multiple times daily and has increased sales in the account by millions.

PunchOut is designed to enable purchasers to buy from a wide range of pre-approved suppliers as efficiently as possible. A well-implemented PunchOut catalogue will be very fast, simple and focussed on the B2B buyer. It is quite different to Amazon-style B2C shopping, so bolting punchout into an existing website is not generally the answer.

There is an Ariba field in the catalog called "Image" where you can input either image URL's that you host on your site or input Image file names and then submit the associated images separately for upload to synchronize with the image names in the catalog.

Adam, all of our Ariba Supplier Solution Provider members have been validated as being able to develop PunchOut catalogs. Their information is on the left side of the screen, or you can email us at programs_info@ariba.com and we can provide the information to you.

{comment re compant P3P policy} This is a great point Helen. We see this problem a lot as we punchout enable supplier's sites. There are some tricks to modifying the compact P3P policy in order to get it to work for your buyers in punchout mode.

@Robert You definitely don't want to require a user to login after punching out to your site. So auto lookup/regsitration/login is the way to go.

Any plans to be able to update the price on a PO after the Punchout order is processed. We have issues with PO's where the price changes while the PO is waiting for approval.

Terri, if a seller changes the price after a punchout "shopping basket" is brought back into the Ariba buyside solution and then converted into a Purchase Order, this has to be then handled in a Order Cornfirmation back from the seller. If a Buyer then sets up certain tolerance levels, no buyer approval is needed on the buyside.

You may be interested in our Procurement Content solution. Where users have the option to punchout to Ariba from your procurement system (i.e. SAP/Oracle/JDEdwards) to order from catalogs in Ariba and then return the cart back to your procurement system to process into a PO and complete in your system.

If there is a price change on a punchout item before the supplier receives the PO, the supplier may send am order confirmation rejecting the price, and listing the current price. THe buyer can resend the updated PO. Or if the buyer has their config set to allow invoices with price changes within a certain tolerance. This is something you would confirm with the Buyer first

CIF requires you to format your content in a specific way and requires your customers to download and approve catalogs. PunchOut uses your existing e-commerce site and allows you to change content such as descriptions, pricing, or availability on the fly. You gain savings through the fact that you don't need to produce CIF files and that you maintain your existing commerce site only. PunchOut allows you to display different contract prices, depending on the specific customer that is shopping; you don't have to create separate CIF files for each customer.

Those are both Ariba fields that are already available to you - To make the fields visible in the catalog, you would need to configure the type definition file to make those fields display in the UI. To learn more, please check out the Catalog Format Reference Guide.

Angie,there are two costs related to PunchOut: enabling your AN account and modifying your e-commerce site. Enabling your AN account for PunchOut costs $495/year per supplier account. The cost of modifying your e-commerce site depends on the technology your site uses and is highly variable. It takes suppliers as little as one week to develop and test PunchOut for some sites and as long as a several months to build a new site from scratch.

@Kapil, CIF catalogs are stored within your customer's procurement application (e.g Ariba Buyer or Ariba Procure-to-Pay). PunchOut catalogs are stored on your own website, so they don't consume space on your customer's computers. You create a simple one-line CIF that links to your PunchOut catalog. When a supplier provides items that have highly volatile pricing (MRO items), or configurable items (computers, business cards) it's best to move to punchout since the supplier will maintain all data on the site so no constant catalog refreshed for buyers.

@Kapil, PunchOut is a great solution to your problem. You avoid all the hassles of CIF by moving to PunchOut. Suppliers use their existing e-commerce sites instead of creating, uploading, and publishing CIF files.

Please check what platform your customer is on. This is only available for our OnDemand customers.

Plus, punchout suppliers tend to be stickier with buyers, that is less likely to switch to another vendor.

https:// URLs are mandatory for both the test and production URLs. As mentioned earlier, the certificate for these URLs need to be obtained from an Ariba Trusted Certificate Provider.
Ariba does not support http:// urls for Punchout. The Punchout applications need to have a https:// URL and the certificate for this URL should be provided by one of the Ariba trusted certificate Providers.
