Hello,

I tried to make some exercises in test environment of Ariba but got messge like in the subject --> what does it mean/where is the mistake/what parameter was with wrong attribute?

I read all the instructions, looked for help on Connect and Exchange and placed SR #002028376500003292602016: Legacy Contract Import ZIP file (which was closed without giving me any help).

Unfotrunately there is no DSC to help me in this case.

Creating KPI Sections

$

0

I'm sure this is basic and I have searched to try and find an answer with no luck. I am working in a test environment to learn the system and not muck about with production data. I have followed the instructions and created a KPI Library folder and now want to create sections to group my KPIs. The pdf I have been working with says the following:

Procedure

1. In a scorecard or KPI Library choose, This KPI will contain supporting data (KPI, questions, and/or requirements).

2. Enter the KPI section name and description.

3. Specify whether the KPI section will be visible to the supplier.

4. Click Done.

So I have created the Library and when I open it I do not have the choice stated in #1. The sections sound like folders but I don't know if I add additional folders in the Library to group my KPIs if I will be able to pull them in to scorecards. Would really appreciate it if someone could offer clarification.

Single Sign-on question

Hi,

Is it possible to implement a single sign-on functionality to automatically log-in to a third party application which will be accessed inside Ariba? We need to somehow integrate a third party web application inside ariba (via hyperlink) and when the user clicks it, it will then be automatically logged in to another web application. We're using Ariba 9r1.

Thanks in advance.

Reverse Auctions

I have been tasked with trying to implement the use of more reverse auctions within our organization.  We have held many forward auctions but we seem to meet a lot of resistance around reverse auctions.  I'm reaching out the Ariba community for some feedback on the usage of auctions. Below are some of my questions:

1)   1)  On average how many eAuctions do you hold in a month?

3    2)  When implementing the use of eAuctions did you experience resistance from others in your Procurement dept? Suppliers? Business Partners?

If yes, how did you overcome this in order to receive buy-in from these different parties?

4)   3)  How do we increase the number of eAuctions?

5)   4)  How do you determine what goes to eAuction? Do you auction both product and services?

6)   5)  Do you generally hold an RFP before going to eAuction?

7)   6)  How do you open your eAuctions for?

8)   7)   From your experience what do you feel is the key to a successful eAuction?

9)   8)   In terms of savings how successful do find eAuctions?  Can you estimate how much more you’ve saved since implementing eAuctions?

Ariba vs SAP SRM 7

Hi there,

Have any of you found documentation, blogs, white papers, presentations or studies where Ariba Buyer (9r1 ideally) and SAP SRM 7 are being compared?

I have seen some interesting blogs on spendmatters.com, a Gartner study, some SAP links (distinct SAP flavor! :-)), but nothing on Connect or Exchange. Of course a big point for Ariba is the ASN; what are the others?

Seems the trend is to compare both options, and we are at the gathering input stage... :-)

Thanks!

Linda

Dear All,

My first discussion in the community

I am relatively new to the Ariba world. After going thróugh a lot of Information regarding the various components of Ariba, I came out with the following list:

Ariba Sourcing and Ariba Discovery

Ariba Contract Management

Ariba Supplier Information & Performance Management

Ariba Procurement Content

Ariba procure-to-pay

Ariba procure-to-order

Ariba Services Procurement

Ariba Spend Visibility

Ariba Invoice Management

Ariba Payment Management

Ariba Discount Management

Can anyone of you explain me in brief (1-2 lines) each  of the above mentioned components/products? Any document explaining the functionality would also be very beneficial for me.Moreover, I have also seen many other components for example Ariba spend visibilty, Ariba travel & expense, Ariba supplier connectivity etc. I want to understand where can I fit these in the overall picture. If you feel I have missed something in the list, please feel free to add to the list.

Thank you and I am looking forward to a fruitful discussion and a great start in the community.

REST web services and supplier user requirement

We currently use SOAP web services to integrate supplier profiles with SAP ECC vendor master. We would like to transition to REST web services, but don't see a way around the requirement for a supplier user assignment in order to set the enable supplier integration flag. Is there a way to get around this restriction?

Message could not be forwarded to the JCA adapter. Reason: Error when sending message: Profile request failed for [Channel] CCT_OrderEnquiry_cXML_Receiver with the following [ERROR] Cannot connect to Ariba SN

This is the configuration made for the communication channel:

How to load contract requests (CR) in contract module?

$

hi All

Can someone help me to load contract terms using downstream. I am able to load contract workspaces successfully but unable to do so for contract terms. I am following below steps, let me know the correct procedure that I need to follow

A. Steps for Loading Contract Workspaces

i) prepare 4 csv files, contract.csv; contractteams.csv; ContractDocuments.csv; ImportProjectsParameters.csv and zip it together

ii) Go to Manage - Administration --->project manager -->import legacy Contracts

iii) Load this zip file

This works perfect and contracts workspace gets created in Contract Module

B) Steps for Loading Contract Requests (Contract Terms)

i) Prepare 4 csv files i.e. Accounting.csv, ContractHeader.csv; ContractItemInformation.csv; TermPricing.csv and zip it together

ii) Go to Manage - Core Administration --> Site Manager ---> Data Import/Export --->search for "Import Contracts in ZIP File"

iii) Load this zip file under above task i.e. "Import Contracts in ZIP File"

Job completes successfully but message says no records were created. when I search for Contract Request, I dont find

Please note, I am manually inserting contract request # in  contractheader.csv under "BuyerContractID" . I am keeping few fields blank as well.

please let me know if I am missing any steps or some fields are supposed to be mandatory

Training for suppliers invited to respond to RFPs

$

I would be interested to know how are other Ariba Sourcing users address the issue of training suppliers invited to respond to an RFP who are first time Ariba users. What best practices are out there. The reason for raising this issue is because there are still a large number of companies that have not used Ariba. This is particularly true in regions like Asia, where langauge barriers can add another level of difficulty. We have very limited resources in house. project owners have multiple responsibilites and to achieve the ROI on our Ariba solution and the efficiency leveles we promised we can afford task the project owners with holding supplier training sessions. We notice that a considerable number of suppliers decline to participate in our RFP due to lack of familiarity with the tool or, if they participate, they are not comfortable directing all communication and the entire proposal submission through the tool. This impacts the efficiency rates that we were expecting to achieve from use of Ariba as opposed to the traditional word and excel spreadsheet method.

I know that there are some companies out there that are still using the old method (from the time when eRFXs were pionered), that is holding training sessions for suppliers invited to RFp or setting up training events. As I said, this require a significant amount of resources, in my opinion.

Also, I found that some suppliers do not use or do not find the training videos very useful. Besides, to get to the guides and help menus you need to log in first and sometimes they can't even pass that stage and won't usually look for Help and guides once they are in as they are overwhelmed by RFP content, pre-requisites etc.

One solution that I considered is to be able to attach some supplier user guides that I developed myself with screenshots and a login user guide to the invitation email. That way the supplier would get not only the link to the event/password reset but also a quick guide that at least will help him go through the first steps. The problem is that the email templates available in Ariba do not seem to accomodate that. This is also true with email messaging during an RFP where messages composed from Ariba do not go out with attachments. As a result, we still get a lot of calls from suppliers after we publish the event (in spite of "heads-up" emails we sent suppliers before publishing the RFP) and we end up doing a lot of micro-managing around RFP that eliminates any efficiencies we might have achieved.

I am interested in any other ideas, workarounds, best practices.
