Delete custom fields with Field Configuration

Hi there,

I recently created a a number of custom fields using field configuration. One of those fields is not longer required.  I don't seem to be able to delte the field from the fields tab but I was able to delte the field from the layout tab.  If anyone knows how to do this it would eb really helpful.
