How to create a partial catalog?

Dear helper,

     If I want to create a partial catalog, how can do the type definitions?

     In the <Ariba catalog format> product document, I find following descriptions:

     "An Ariba Procurement Solution uses cXML files called type definition files to define parametric search attributes and supplemental catalog attributes. Buying organizations can use type definition files to extend the catalog format and provide additional custom functionality."

      What's this mean? How can I use the type definition documents?

ASN Integration to SAP ECC

Came to know that If the Adaptor with PI middlewareis ued   for integrating ASN with SAP ECC for PO/Inv Automation , it will not support functionalities like   - 1. Consignment Orders 2. Sub-contracting Orders 3. Scheduling Agreement releases,  Is it correct?

I cant seem to find any document in the internet or Ariba connect on how to do this.

Web Service to Create Sourcing Request

Hi,

 

I'm relatively new in Ariba system.

 

I just wanted to ask if there's a web service we can call to create a sourcing request in Ariba?

Cant approve a new supplier after I have made changes to the SPQ

I updated the Supplier Profile Questionnaire, I added some new questions and update others, once I know these are working in the test site I will be require to make them in the live site.

I "ok" the changes and published the template.

Done nothing different to what I've done before.

I then created a test supplier via the test self-registration link to make sure the questions were pulling through for the supplier – these worked fine.

As the supplier I submitted the SPQ.

I then logged back on as me to approve this new supplier and I get the following message:

"You must complete all predecessor tasks before you can start the approval task for new supplier organisation"

Can you let me know what this means – as I can't approve this supplier.

I've done this 3 times now and I cant approve any of my test suppliers.

 

 

Does changing the template has anything to do with any further prerequisite?

Does ARIBA suits EPC project in oil and gas business?

Hello,

 

I would like to understand whether ARIBA is a suitable tool when it comes to manage procurement for a large EPC contractor operating in the oil and gas industry.

Is ARIBA able to provide the following:

 

1) When I'm looking for a Supplier, am I able to see for each product category their application field?

2) Once the order is placed, is ARIBA able to manage all hard and soft deliverables (material and documentation)?

3) Can ARIBA implement a delivery schedule for each deliverable?

4) Can it measure the progress for each deliverable?

5) Is it able to provide KPI for each Supplier?

6) Which performances the software is able to manage and is it possible to get them customised?

7) Is there any tool built in to expedite Vendor activity?

8) How about reporting: is it able to provide status of all Vendors + progress for each deliverable in real time?

9) In case of a project, is the software able to manipulate all Vendor data to provide an overall progress/status pictures?

10) Is there any module available to issue formal communication (instruction, queries, concession, ...) between buyer and seller?

11) Can you provide a list of ARIBA Clients in the oil and gas industry?

Advice - Relauching Use Of Ariba Contracts - Dealing with Old Contract Workspaces

Hi,

 

I have been tasked with a strategic reviewof Ariba Contracts Management in my organisation and relaunching use of the tool in my organisation. There are currently 5k contract workspaces of all different status in Ariba. Use of the ACM functionality itself if really just as a Contract Repository. For now my focus is just on revamping the Contract repository

 

I want to keep the existing contracts but wish to review and revise the meta data captuered for each contract workspace.

 

I am looking for any advice relating to the above really. In particular can anybody advise me as to the best methodology to follow here ?

 

Also, is there advise on where I can find best in class Ariba Contract Management practices ?

Hi

We are not seeing "Receiving against contract" question in Ariba test environment during contract terms file creation but we can see that question in Ariba production environment. How we should disable this question under definition section of contract terms file.

Centralizing Contract Workspace Creation

We're undertaking a process to centralize the contract workspace creation process.  Today it is reasonably decentralized where ~60 Strategic Sourcing users create their own contract workspaces.  We face a number of challenges in the current environment because of it being centralized.  Since workspace management isn't their primary function, the number of workspaces in draft and draft amendment climb into the hundreds.  Managing this count to a lower number is very challenging.  When workspaces are created and submitted into an approval flow, 'Contract Admin' (our team) are the first approvers on the flow to check for data integrity.  We have to send a lot of workspaces back because they are filled out inaccurately.  Often times people accidentally amend the wrong workspace. 

 

As we start to think about centralizing the process, there are a number of things we have to consider.  I'm really interested in understanding your process and how your system is configured to accomplish the centralized function.

1. How do you receive inbound requests for a contract?  Via email to a group mailbox?  Through a ticketing system?  Through Contract Request?  Is it in excel? Word?

2. When you receive the inbound request, how much information are you collecting?  Too much and you may as well have them create it themselves! 

3. What is your SLA upon receipt to then create the workspace?

4. Who owns the contract workspace on the overview tab?  Is it a member of the centralized team?  Or is it the author of the contract?

5. If the central creator stays as the workspace owner, how is the expiring notification process handled?

6. Did you make modifications to the team tab to accommodate this?  Is the Sourcing owner there? Can you report on it?

7. What advice would you give us as we plan to roll out contract compliance?

8. Did you go back in history and load contracts to apply contract compliance to them? Or did you pick a point in time and only apply to that moving forward?

9. What other processes should we consider putting in place?

SPM for events / audio-visual providers

I've stakeholders wanting to conduct SPM surveys for providers of events / exhibitions and audio-visual equipment, but they feel our standard question-set doesn't quite work for these types of service.

 

Does anyone have any experience, advice, questions or templates to share that are for more subjective / different product / services ?

What level or degree of integration is recommended with Contract Management module and SAP ERP systems?  What integration points are deemed critical vs nice to have?  Anyone willing to share lessons learned ?

Scoring Precedence

I am curious of the priority of the scoring within the scorecards and surveys. Both allow for different scoring. In the surveys you can weight sections and assign levels of importance to the questions. In scorecards you can weight both sections and questions. My guess is that when the two are used together, the scorecard takes precedence as  the survey can be a standalone item.  My testing using both survey and scorecard showed no different in the scoring of the participants averages when assigning different levels of importance to the questions. What I don't know is if this supports my idea of which takes precedence or is because of an insignificant sample size (4 participants).  Can anyone confirm or provide direction.

Limitation of reportable fields in the SPQ - How do you run reporting?

Dear User Community,

 

we are currently in the process of implementing the SIM module for our global vendor on-boarding.

Looking at the draft version of our SPQ, we already have a list of 130 questions/fields.

Based on the feedback from Ariba only 100 questions/fields are reportable in the analytical reporting and this is even restricted by type of question/field.

We are really having issues with this constraint, as obviously we want to have almost all fields/questions in the SPQ reportable as other functions are using it to collect relevant supplier information.

Moreover we didn't repeat any of the Ariba commerce cloud questions/fields in our SPQ e.g. diversity information, but we got told that Ariba commerce cloud data is also not reportable in the Ariba analytical reporting. Only fields/questions from our SPQ would be reportable.

 

How are you dealing with this constraint of reportable fields?

Are you extracting data from the SPQ and Ariba commerce cloud and using external reporting capabilities?

 

I'm really pleased about any answer which could help to solve this problem!

Languages for supplier self-registration

Dear User Community,

 

we are currently in the process of implementing the SIM module for our global vendor on-boarding.

We identified our main languages globally and will go ahead and translate the SPQ into those languages.

 

Now my question to you is, do you require that the suppliers are responding to the SPQ in English (latin characters) or do you let them respond in their local language?

Our internal approvers in SIM mostly speak English and it would be an issue for us if they are responding in their local languages, especially with non latin characters.
